FAQ
Questions we hear first
Who owns the data?
You do, fully. Merus collects on your behalf and hands over raw responses, the cleaned dataset, and documentation. We keep nothing without your written consent.
Where is the data stored?
On servers we control, with access limited to the project team. We work in line with Rwanda’s data protection law (Law 058/2021): no personal data is collected without a lawful basis, and data is deleted or returned at project close.
Can respondents answer in Kinyarwanda?
Yes. Surveys run in English, French, and Kinyarwanda, and respondents can switch language mid-survey. Translation of your instrument is part of the build.
Can you work with our enumerators?
Yes. For tailored research systems, we set up enumerator accounts, assignment tracking, and per-enumerator quality checks. Your field team keeps working the way it already does, with better tools.
How fast can we launch?
Academic surveys go live within 5 working days of the scoping call. Programme studies typically take 2-3 weeks depending on instrument length and translation. Custom timelines are agreed at scoping.
What formats do we get the data in?
CSV, SPSS (.sav), and Excel, with a codebook describing every variable. If your analysis needs a different shape, such as long format or one row per household, we deliver that too.
